About Me
By way of introduction
to me, Eugene
McHugh, and Wicklow Counselling Service, I have put together a synopsis of my experience to enable you to make a choice in using my services as a Counsellor / Therapist.
My training took place in the Institute of Creative Counselling and Psychotherapy (ICCP) in Dun Laoghaire, Co. Dublin. This training covered the major types of therapy on general offer today.
Since qualification I have undertaken further training specifically in Somatic or Body Psychotherapy using the theoretical approaches of Reich and Lowen. I am also trained in Hakomi Body Psychotherapy which is a Mindfulness based method. I have also completed further training in Addiction Studies at NUI Maynooth.
The Practice is based on a Humanistic and Integrative Therapy model and is Person Centred. I offer Counselling in Living Life Counselling Centre which is a reduced cost centre. I am a fully Accredited Member with the Irish Association forCounselling and Psychotherapy (IACP).
I am trained in Suicide Intervention using the ASIST model from Living Works.
The shortest and surest way to live with honour in the world, is to be in reality what we would appear to be; and if we observe, we shall find, that all human virtues increase and strengthen themselves by the practice of them. 
One ought, every day at least, to hear a little song, read a good poem, see a fine picture, and if it were possible, to speak a few reasonable words.
I have also trained in the treatment of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) with Babette Rothschild, a leading figure in the field.

I will strive to support you as a person on your journey of discovery by trying to create a safe environment for this journey to take place.I have worked as a volunteer with adolescents and youth for more than twenty years.
